Sprite was born and bred Hawaii. Her mom Pepsi can
also be found on the horses page. Her father APHA reg
"Kaneohoe Carousel" was a rescue horse. I bought him
for $1. His back had been seriously injured during a
pasture breeding and he had been left with no medical
care for over 5 months. But I will have to say the
crafty old codger had the laugh on me. I was having
trouble during his rehab because he wouldn't leave the
gate...Just stood there. So I threw Pepsi in with him
thinking he would at least follow her around. Well he
sure did. They had the laugh on me.... and she sure is
wonderful! Sprite loves the children and at two was
already to pack them out on the trail. She is a true
asset to our program. Now that she is "all grown up"
we are looking forward to some beautiful babies!

*Update* Jan 2008
After a truly horrible accident Last fall involving flipping over a 4' hog wire
fence (we will never know what truly happened) Sprite is almost back to her
old self. She is just starting to spend some walk time in the arena with the
littlest of my students, only time will tell if the leg will ever be able to hold up
to anything by a slow walk on the trail, but things look good. She has no
trouble galloping across the pasture, even in high grass. We will keep our
fingers crossed and hope for the best.
